Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century

Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century is a 1999 publication by the North American Time magazine that listed the 100 most important people in the history of the 20th century. The idea for this list originated in 1998 with a debate at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC The proposed participants for the list were CBS anchor Dan Rather, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The final list was published on June 14, 1999, in a special issue titled "TIME 100: Heroes & Icons of the 20th Century". On December 31st, Albert Einstein was recognized as the Person of the Century.
