Tonje Brenna (Norwegian Tonje Brenna; born October 21, 1987, Holmlia[d], Oslo) is a Norwegian politician and statesman. Member of the Labor Party. Current Norwegian Minister of Education since 14 October 2021. In the past - the governor of the Viken county (2020-2021).

Biography

She was born on October 21, 1987. In 2005, she joined the youth wing (AUF) of the Norwegian Workers' Party. Two years later, she was hired as a political advisor to the AUF. Then, after a period as youth secretary for the Norwegian Trade Union Confederation (LO) in Oslo and Akershus, in October 2010 she was elected general secretary of the AUF. Survived the 2011 Utoya Island bombing. Together with the bleeding girl Tonie Brenna hid behind a stone ledge located near the lake. In 2012, Tonje Brenna testified at the trial of the terrorist Anders Breivik. In the summer of 2012, she became the youngest political adviser in the Prime Minister's office in the second Stoltenberg government, in 2013 - in the Ministry of Justice and Public Security under Minister Greta Faremo. After the defeat of the Workers' Party in the 2013 parliamentary elections, she left the government. According to the results of the local elections in 2019, she was elected governor of Viken county. From February 1 to May 1, 2020, she was on parental leave. On October 14, 2021, Tonje Brenna received the portfolio of Norwegian Minister of Education in the Støre government.

Personal life

Lives in Esheim in an unregistered marriage to jazz musician Vetle Larsen. The couple has two children: Emil (Emil, b. 2014) and Oscar (Oskar, b. July 18, 2019). He likes to jog, drink beer and read detective stories.
