Jan Christian Vestre (born October 9, 1986) is a Norwegian businessman and politician from the Workers' Party; Minister of Trade and Industry from 14 October 2021.

Biography

He was born on October 9, 1986 in the municipality of Haugesund in the province of Rogaland. In 2017, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo. He worked as a designer and manager for the family business, furniture company Vestre AS, and in 2019 was awarded the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award. At the age of 26, after the death of his father, Yang took over the management of a furniture company. Jan Christian was a member of the League of Working Youth and was at a summer camp on the island of Utøya when the camp was attacked by Anders Breivik in 2011. Since June 2013, Vestre has become a political adviser to the then Minister of Trade and Industry, Trond Giske. In October 2021, he was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Jonas Støre. Together with Minister Espen, Eide campaigned for the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere. He stated that it is important for Norway to coordinate with the rest of Europe in the field of switching to winter and summer time. In December 2021, Jan Vestre visited the United States with his government colleagues to promote Norway's interests in the Arctic. Supporter of government measures to combat COVID-19 in the field of economics.
