The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Ukraine (ukr. Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine) is a state executive body of Ukraine, whose activities are directed and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The Ministry is headed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, who is appointed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in accordance with the procedure established by law. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is the main (leading) body in the system of central executive authorities for the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, the interests of society and the state from illegal encroachments, combating crime, protecting public order, ensuring public safety, traffic safety, protection and defense of especially important state facilities.

Functions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in accordance with the tasks assigned to it: ensures the implementation of state policy in relation to the fight against crime; determines the main directions of activity of the bodies, divisions, institutions subordinate to it and effective means and methods for fulfilling the tasks assigned to them; organizes the work of internal affairs bodies related to the protection of public order; organizes preventive and operational-search measures to prevent crimes, their detection, termination and disclosure, the production of inquiry and without preliminary (pre-trial) investigation in cases of crimes, the investigation of which is entrusted to these bodies by law; carries out in the listed cases, provided for by the Ukrainian legislation of Ukraine, special measures to ensure the safety of court employees, �
