Philippine presidential election (2022)

May 22, 2022

Philippine presidential and vice presidential elections May 9, 2022 are the 17th direct presidential and 16th vice presidential elections in the Philippines since 1935. Incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte is ineligible for re-election as he is limited to one term under the 1987 Philippine Constitution. The positions of president and vice president are elected separately. Thus, the two winning candidates may belong to different political parties. The 2022 presidential election was the first in which all presidential candidates were born since the end of World War II. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., son of the 10th President of the Philippines, Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, won the election.
