The 2022 Ice Hockey World Championship is the 85th Ice Hockey World Championship taking place from 13 to 29 May in the cities of Tampere and Helsinki in Finland, which was appointed as the organizer of the championship on 19 May 2017 at the IIHF congress held in Cologne. Finland hosts the tournament for the ninth time. Finland last hosted a World Cup in 2003, and in 2012 and 2013 co-hosted the World Cup with Sweden.

Members

The Finnish team as the host country, as well as 15 teams that participated in the 2021 World Cup, guaranteed their participation in the championship. Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the provision of its territory by Belarus for this, on February 28, 2022, the IIHF suspended the membership of Russia and Belarus in the international federation and deprived these teams of the right to participate in all international tournaments, their places were taken by the teams of Austria and France.
