Yelena Rybakina (Russian: Elena Andreevna Rybakina; born June 17, 1999) is a Kazakh tennis player of Russian origin. She achieved the highest ranking on the VTA list in January 2022, when she was twelfth in the world. He is the first player from Kazakhstan who managed to enter the top fifteen in the world and win a Grand Slam tournament. She also reached eight other WTA Tour finals during her career, including three in the WTA 500 Series.

Career

She was born on June 17, 1999 in Moscow. She started training tennis at the age of five. She started her professional career in 2016. During the period from 2013 to 2018, Rybakina represented Russia. After that, she changed her citizenship to represent Kazakhstan. She achieved her best ranking on the VTA list in individual competition on January 17, 2022, when she was in 12th place. She won three WTA titles: in Bucharest, Hobart and Wimbledon. At Grand Slam tournaments, she reached the finals at Wimbledon in 2022, the first tennis player from Kazakhstan in the finals of the individual competition. In the final, she defeated Uns Jabir with 2:1 and thus won her first Grand Slam title.
