Ljubodrag Dimić (Zemun, February 20, 1956) is a Serbian historian, doctor of historical sciences, full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade and a full member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Biography

Ljubodrag Dimić was born in Zemun in 1956. He studied history at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, where he graduated (1980), received his master's degree (1985) with his work "Agitprop phase of cultural policy in Serbia 1945-1952" and his doctorate (1993) with the dissertation "Cultural Policy in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia 1929-1941". From 1981 to 1985, he worked as an assistant trainee at the Institute for the History of the Workers' Movement of Serbia (today the Institute for Recent History of Serbia). He was elected an assistant professor at the Department of Yugoslav History in 1985, an assistant professor in 1993, an associate professor in 1998 and a full professor in 2002. From 2003 to 2005, he was the director of the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. He is a member of the board for the history of the 20th century at SANU. He is one of the founders of the Center for Contemporary History of Southeast Europe, the founder and head of the Center for the History of Yugoslavia and the Cold War. He was engaged in the work of the editorial boards of several historical journals. He chaired the State Truth and Reconciliation Commission (2001). He is an honorary member of the Cold War Research Center in London. In November 2012, he was appointed a corresponding member of SANU. Since November 8, 2018, he has been a regular member of SANU.
