Adrian Payne (Dayton, February 19, 1991 - Orlando, May 9, 2022) was an American basketball player. He played in the position of wing center.

Career

During his high school career, he led his team from the town of Dayton, to the title of champion of the fourth division. He averaged 15.6 points and had 11.3 rebounds per game. He spent his college career at Michigan State University, where he played from 2010 to 2014.

NBA career

In the 2014 NBA Draft, he was selected as the 15th pick in the first round of the draft by Atlanta, one place ahead of Bosnian basketball player Jusuf Nurkić. He did not do well in Atlanta, so he often played in the development league. That is why he was traded in Minnesota in February 2015, which was a very good move for his further progress. Already on March 9, 2015, when he was in the starting five instead of Kevin Garnett, he scored 16 points and 15 rebounds in the defeat by the Clippers.
