The municipality of Palilula is one of the five city municipalities of the city of Nis, and was formed by the statute of the City on June 6, 2002.

Geography

The municipality is located in the southern part of the city of Nis and includes the narrower part of the city on which 15 rural settlements lean. The municipality of Palilula is a natural-geographical combination of plain (in the Nisava and South Morava basins) and hilly-mountainous relief. The area of ​​the municipality is 117.37 km2, and according to the census from 2002, it has 72,165 inhabitants, of which 54,596 live in the urban area, and 17,569 in the rural area. Neighboring municipalities are: Mediana, Niska Banja, Red Cross, Gadzin Han, Doljevac and Merosina.
