Pantelej City Municipality
The municipality of Pantelej is one of the 5 city municipalities of the city of Nis, created in 2004. It borders the municipality of Svrljig in the northeast, the city municipality of Crveni Krst in the west and the city municipalities of Mediana and Niska Banja in the south.
In accordance with the Local Economic Development Plan, intensive work is being done to improve the development of small and medium enterprises, in order to change the social and economic picture of this region.
In addition to part of the city settlement, the city municipality of Pantelej also covers the areas of Cerje and Kamenicki Vis in the west, and in the east it extends to Pasjača and Oreovac, with a total of 12 villages. The green slopes of the hills of the Svrljig mountains, with the beauties of the underground labyrinth of the Cerjan cave, represent the natural wealth of the municipality. CSO Pantelej is mostly a rural municipality in which agriculture is traditionally the most represented branch of the economy and at the same time the most significant development potential.
The rural area is characterized by a healthy and preserved environment. This advantage is suitable for the development of rural tourism based on healthy food and national cuisine. Rural tourism programs also include the protection and renovation of houses built in the old fashioned way. The tourist offer also includes cultural heritage - the presentation of folklore games, customs and objects of folk crafts. There are three football clubs in Pantelej: OFK Nis, FC Cegar 1946 and FC Sloga 1948. OFK Nis and FC Sloga 1948 are currently competing in the First Nis League. FK Čegar 1946 competes in the Second Niš League.
