Dragan Tomić (Priština, 1936 - June 21, 2022) was a Serbian politician and former president of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

Biography

He was born in 1936 in Pristina and educated in Belgrade. where he graduated from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy. After graduating in 1962, he got a job at Rakovica's "Rekord", where he started as an engineer-technologist and rose to the position of general manager. He was a delegate in the SO Rakovica and in the Council of Municipalities of the Assembly of Serbia. This was followed by the position of president of the SSRN City Conference (1986 — 1989). After Rekord, he got a job at "Jugopetrol" as a general manager. He was elected president of the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Yugoslavia. From the position of head of the SPS parliamentary group, he was elected president of the republic's National Assembly in 1994 and remained in that position until the October changes in 2000. He was the Acting President of the Republic of Serbia from July 23, 1997 to December 29, 1997. He passed away on June 21, 2022.
