Nemanja Vidic

Nemanja Vidic (Titovo Uzice, October 21, 1981) is a former Serbian football player. He played as a central defender. He started his career in Sloboda from Uzice, and then moved to Crvena Zvezda, from where he moved to Spartak Moscow in July 2004 for 6.5 million euros. On January 5, 2006, Nemanja Vidic transferred to Manchester United for 10.25 million euros. He won the double crown with Crvena Zvezda in 2004, and with Manchester he won three consecutive English championships (and 5 in total), 3 times the League Cup, 5 times the FA Community Shield, one Champions League and one Champions League and the 2008 World Club Football Championship. In 2014, he played his last game for United, and after the expiration of his contract, he moved to Inter as a free agent. He made his debut for the national football team on October 12, 2002 in the qualifications for the European Championship in Naples, against Italy (1: 1). He played 56 games for the national team and scored 2 goals. On January 29, 2016, Vidic announced the end of his playing career.



Nemanja Vidic was born into a family of father Dragoljub, a retired copper rolling mill worker, and Zora, a bank clerk. Vidic started coaching football at the age of 7 in the local club FK Jedinstvo Putevi (1989-1993) with his older brother Dusan. At the age of 12, he moved to Sloboda (1994-1996).

Red Star

He was brought from Uzice in 1996 and played in the youth team of the Red Star until 2000, when he was sent on a one-year loan to Spartak Subotica. He made his debut for the first team of the red and whites after returning from a loan in 2001 and became an irreplaceable first team player under coach Zoran Filipović. In three seasons, he played 92 official matches and scored 15 goals. As the team captain, he participated in winning the double crown in the 2003/04 season, and before that he won another national cup in 2002. Although he played as a central defender, he scored more goals than individual strikers in Zvezda's history. Fans remember his goals against Odense for the second round of the UEFA Cup in the 2003/04 season. and a goal in the derby against Partizan in the victory in the spring of 2002 of 3: 0.


In July 2004, he moved to the Russian first league FC Spartak Moscow. Details of the transfer have not been revealed, although it has been reported that Vidic has become the most expensive defense
