1991 Census in SFRY
The 1991 census of the SFRY population, households and agriculture was prepared and held in the conditions of turbulent political events that led to the disintegration of the SFRY. This resulted in the termination of the cooperation of the republican statistical institutes in order to process the census results. This is the last census in a series of periodic censuses for 10 years, 1961, 1971, 1981, 1991, according to international recommendations that the census be held every ten years for a year ending with zero, ie the year before or after that year.
Due to the boycott of the census by the Albanian population, the census was not conducted on the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija with a majority Albanian population and in the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo, and an official population estimate was made.
Census results books have been published in 24 books.
