2011 Census in Serbia
The 2011 census of population, households and dwellings in the Republic of Serbia is the first census in the Republic of Serbia since it became an independent state again. It was supposed to be held 1-15. April 2011, but due to lack of funds it was moved and held 1-15. October. The census was subsequently extended until October 18, and in Belgrade, Kragujevac, Nis, Novi Sad, Pozarevac and other cities / municipalities where it was needed until October 27.
Implementation and flow of the list
The census of population, households and dwellings is divided into six phases:
Preparations for conducting the census;
Data dissemination, and
Analysis of census results. The Bosniak National Council, unrecognized by the Republic of Serbia, whose president is Mufti Muamer Zukorlic, called on Bosniaks to boycott the census because, contrary to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, the census was written only in Cyrillic and in Serbian. The call for a boycott was unsuccessful and there were only isolated cases of boycott.
For the same reason and due to the non-enumeration of persons residing abroad for more than one year, the National Council of Albanians also called on Albanians to boycott the census that was massive in the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo and to a lesser extent in Medvedja (this municipality has a Serb ethnic majority). there are about 34,000 Albanians who boycotted the census in the area.
