1360 - King Edward III of England and King Jean II the Good of France sign an agreement in Calais to end the first phase of the Hundred Years' War. 1648 - The Peace of Minster ends the Thirty Years' War and the Dutch Revolution, and the Netherlands and the Swiss Confederation are officially recognized as independent states. He was killed in September 1973 in a coup d'etat by an officer junta led by Augusto Pinochet. 1980 - A law is approved by the Polish authorities
