1360 - King Edward III of England and King Jean II the Good of France sign an agreement in Calais to end the first phase of the Hundred Years' War. 1648 - The Peace of Minster ends the Thirty Years' War and the Dutch Revolution, and the Netherlands and the Swiss Confederation are officially recognized as independent states.
