Week numbers are numbers assigned to a week. It is used in some European and Asian countries, such as Sweden, but is uncommon in the United States, among other places. The standard is used in most countries in Europe. The standard also describes the way to number the weeks within a year. Week 1 is the first week of the year that contains at least 4 of the days of the year. If week 52 ends before 28 December, extra week 53 will be added, which will then migrate into the new year.
