English football champion is the winner of the English men's football league. The current Premier League was formed in the 1992–93 season. After the Football Association issued the rules of professional football in 1885, the Football League was formed in 1888 following a series of meetings initiated by Aston Villa's director, William McGregor. After the 1888–89 season was over, Preston North End. Be the first club to win the top league and remain unbeaten.
