KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (Dutch: Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij; English: Royal Aviation Company), a subsidiary of Air France-KLM. before merging with Air France KLM is the national airline of the Netherlands. The main airport is at Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport. KLM is a member of Air France-KLM Group and is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance KLM was founded in 1919 and is the oldest airline still in service. History

Merger with Air France

On September 30, 2003, Air France and KLM has announced that it will merge the two airlines under a new name. It was Air France-KLM, and the merger took place on May 5 the following year. Because of this merger itself, in December 2004 the French government announced the sale of 18.4 percent of its stake to Air France-KLM. causing the government itself to have less than 20% of the shares
