The Institute of the History of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is a research institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine that studies a wide range of problems of the history of Ukraine. Located in Kyiv, Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Street, 4. The institute was established in 1936, the name of the institution was changed and specified: from March 2, 1953 — the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR; from November 21, 1990 - the Institute of the History of Ukraine of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (from 1991 - the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; from 1994 - the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine).

Structure of the Institute

In the early years, the Institute existed as part of three sectors: history of Ukraine in the era of feudalism; history of Ukraine in the era of capitalism and imperialism; of the history of Ukraine in the Soviet period. The structure of the institution as of January 1, 2022 is as follows: Department of History of Ukraine of the Middle Ages and Early Modern Times: Research Institute of Cossacks; Sector of social history; Department of research on the history of Kyivan Rus department of the history of Ukraine of the 19th - early 20th centuries; Department of the History of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921; department of the history of Ukraine of the 20s - 30s of the 20th century with a center for the study of the genocide of the Ukrainian people; department of the history of Ukraine during the Second World War; department of the history of Ukraine of the second half of the 20th century: Historical and Cultural Heritage Research Center of Ukraine; department of recent history and politics; department of history of international relations and foreign policy of Ukraine; department of Ukrainian historiography; department of special branches of historical science and electronic information resources: Sector of genealogical and heraldic research; department of historical regional studies (until May 1, 2012 - department of regional problems of the history of Ukraine); department of the history of state terror of the Soviet era; Cabinet of Ukrainian-Greek relations; computer and publishing department; scientific and information department.
