Dniester district is a district in the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine with the administrative center in the urban-type settlement of Kelmentsi. Area - 2131.9 km2 (26.1% of the area of ​​the region), population - 156.1 thousand people (2020). Formed on July 17, 2020, in accordance with the resolution adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine № 3650 "On the formation and liquidation of districts." The district included Vashkovets village, Kelmenets village, Klishkovets village, Livynets village, Mamalyhiv village, Nedoboiv village, Novodnistrovsk city, Rukshin village, Sokyryan city and Khotyn city territorial communities of Chernivtsi region.

Khotyn National Nature Park

Khotyn National Nature Park is a protected area in Ukraine, within the Khotyn, Kelmenets and Sokyryany districts of Chernivtsi region. The main part of the park, with an area of ​​3784.1 hectares, is almost entirely represented by landscapes of the steep slopes of the Dniester canyon valley and its right tributaries with deciduous forests and meadow-steppe associations on rock outcrops and placers. The park includes a number of objects of the nature reserve fund (in whole or in part), in particular landscape reserves of local significance "Polyvaniv Yar", "Molodivsky Yar", "Shebutynsky Yar", "Halytska Stinka", "Babynska Stinka", "Hrynyatska wall"; ichthyological reserves "Bernivsky Island", "Darabanske Pleso", "Orestovsky", "Neporotovsky", "Kuyutinsky"; geological natural monuments of local significance "Stratotype of the Dzvenigorod Silurian world", "Stratotype of the suburban Silurian world". More than 30 small caves have been explored on the steep slopes of the canyon in places where gypsum and limestone outcrops have been discovered. In the vicinity of the village. Grinyachka is one of the highest (30 m) waterfalls in Bukovina, which originates from a powerful karst spring. The territory of the park also includes a part of the water reservoir of the Dniester reservoir with the area of ​​5662 ha within the administrative border of Chernivtsi region.
