Pavlo Petrovich Postyshev (also Postyshov in the press, party pseudonym - Ermak; September 6, 1887 (18870918), Ivanovo-Voznesensk, Vladimir Province, Russian Empire - shot on February 26, 1939, Moscow Region, RSFSR, Russian Revolution, USSR) statesman and military figure of the Far Eastern Republic, Soviet party and state figure, one of the main organizers of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, the defeat of the Ukrainian national revival and the policy of Ukrainization. Member of the Central Control Commission of the CP (B) U from May 1924 to December 1925. Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (b) in December 1925 - May 1937. Candidate for membership in the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (b) from December 12, 1925 to November 24, 1926. Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CP (B) U and of the Organizing Bureau of the Central Committee of the CP (B) U from November 24, 1926 to July 22, 1930, and from January 29, 1933 to March 17, 1937. Candidate for membership in the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) in December 1925 - December 1927. Member of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) from December 1927 to February 1938. Member of the Organizing Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) from July 13, 1930 to January 26, 1934. Candidate for membership in the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) from February 10, 1934 to January 14, 1938. Biography

He was born in Ivanovo-Voznesensk (now Ivanovo, Russia) in the family of a weaver. He studied at the elementary school in Ivanovo-Voznesensk, which he did not finish. In 1899–1908 he was a worker in textile enterprises, and in 1906–1908 he was also a member of the board of the calico-beaters' trade union in Ivanovo-Voznesensk. From 1901 he took part in the revolutionary movement, and from 1904 he was a member of the RSDLP (B). In 1905–1908 he was a Bolshevik party functionary in Ivano-Voznesensk. In 1908 he was arrested and sentenced to hard labor, from 1912 - in a settlement in the village of Ust-Uda, Irkutsk province, then in the city of Irkutsk. In 1914–1917 he was a member of the illegal Irkutsk bureau of the RSDLP (B). In 1917–1918 he was a comrade (deputy) chairman of the Irkutsk Soviet, a member of the Irkutsk Military Revolutionary Committee, chairman of the Central Irkutsk Trade Union Bureau, chairman of the revolutionary tribunal, and chairman of the Irkutsk Committee of the RSDLP (B). In 1918-1920 he was one of the leaders of the Bolshevik guerrilla movement in the Far East. From 1919 to 1920 he was commissioner of the 1st Tunguska Partisan Detachment named after I.
