Legal encyclopedia (print edition)
The legal encyclopedia is the first multi-volume systematized scientific work on the state and law in Ukraine. Joint work of the Institute of State and Law named after Koretskyi, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Encyclopedia publishing house. It consists of six volumes. The total number of articles is 10,006.
Since the independence of Ukraine in 1991, there has been a need to collect and systematize knowledge of legal science, in the conditions of free and democratic activity of scientific institutions of Ukraine. Therefore, guided by the need to create a large thorough publication, the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine issued a resolution "On the preparation of a fundamental Legal Encyclopedia" dated September 8, 1993. The need to publish such a work and provide financial support forced the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to issue a resolution "On state support for the publication of the "Legal Encyclopedia" » dated December 29, 1996. Thus, state authorities, scientific institutions, and state-owned enterprises joined in the creation of the encyclopedia.

The encyclopedia is based on modern achievements of both domestic and international legal science. The publication presents concepts and categories about all institutes and branches of law. The core provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine as the main normative legal act of the state are revealed. Legislative regulation in the field of social relations, ensuring the rights and freedoms of a person and a citizen is also outlined. A significant section of the articles concerns state authorities, local self-government and various associations of citizens. The legal encyclopedia contains information about research institutions and higher educational institutions of Ukraine with a legal profile, biographies of famous legal scholars of the present and past are presented. Topics from the history of Ukrainian law are widely covered, information about monuments of Ukrainian law is included. The encyclopedia touches not only on Ukrainian jurisprudence. The publication covers information about the state, political and legal system of the countries of the world, as well as their bodies, and provides a scientific assessment of the documents of these countries
