Hinoue Itaru (樋上 いたる) (born March 1) is a Japanese female painter from Osaka Prefecture, Japan and one of the key members of Key company. Hinoue's choice of pseudonym was influenced by Kitagawa Shō's manga C, whose main character is named Amano Itaru (天野 格, Amano Itaru). Before founding Key, Hinoue worked for Tactic Company, where she lent a hand in the production of three visual novels, Dōsei and MOON. and ONE ~Kagayaku Kisetsu e~. After Key was born, Hinoue became famous with three titles Kanon, AIR and Clannad. Hinoue also participated in a dōjinshi with the nickname "Soldier Frog".


Hinoue entered a vocational school to become a professional artist after being influenced by the adult visual novel Dōkyūsei by ELF. One of her first visual novel jobs was with Bon Bin Pompon's Tamago Ryōri in 1996, but she soon moved on to Tactic owned by Nexton. There she was the art director of three games: Dōsei, MOON. and ONE ~Kagayaku Kisetsu e~.
